Make a Pillowcase, Make a Difference!

Suzanne's Quilt Shop is joining the One Million Pillowcase Challenge and you're invited to participate with us! During the month of February, we'll work side by side with FabShopHop, their network of independent quilt and fabric shops, and American Patchwork & Quilting to provide fabric, kits, and patterns so you can donate pillowcases to your local charities.

A pillowcase is a simple thing to make. But it can make a big difference - providing comfort for a cancer patient, hope for a foster child, encouragement for a battered woman, or beauty for a nursing home resident. It lets them know that someone like you cares.

Get Your Pillowcase Party Started at Suzanne's!

Suzanne's has kits, patterns and lots and lots of fun fabrics to get your Pillowcase Party off to a terrific start! Get a group together and make it into a real party! Pick a theme, choose a time when everyone can get together and have fun while you're helping others! Serve refreshments and give out prizes for the greatest number, the best design and the most creative pillowcases. Put your heads together, experiment and use your combined talents to come up with unique projects. The people who get your pillowcases will treasure them even more.

Take good clear photos of your completed pillowcases and send them to us. We'll feature them on our Blog, Suzy Says.

Donate Your Finished Pillowcases to a Local Charity.

You can donate your finished pillowcases to the local charity of your choice. Start with your local churches and synagogues. Perhaps your area has a hospice that cares for terminally ill patients, or a shelter for abused women and children. Maybe you know the director of a children's advocate's group or a mission that provides shelter for the homeless. You might know a family who has lost everything in a fire or flood. There are so many people who would benefit from the simple gift of a pillowcase!

Be sure to go to the homepage of the APQ's 1 Million Pillowcase Challenge website, scroll down and enter the number of pillowcases that you donated in the Official Counter so they will be included in the total.
