Cherishing Quilts of the Past & Inspiring Quilters of Today!

Jo Morton & The Little Women Club

Posted by sqadmin

By far, one of the most popular fabric collections here in the shop is Jo Morton's line of wonderful textiles.  Of all the bright batiks, inspiring 1930's, and fun contemporary fabrics, many of our traditional quilters gravitate straight to Jo Morton's Civil War era textiles.  Her use of color and pattern makes these truly beautiful fabrics to work with, and every finished quilt looks beautiful.

Shirley leads a group of ladies, Jo's Little Women Club, who come in once a month (Thursday mornings or Saturday afternoons) to work on what Shirley calls "miniature" quilts.  These quilts work beautifully as wall hangings or other decorative pieces of art in the house, and they definitely draw attention to themselves in whatever space they are in.  Below are some pictures of one of Shirley's past groups of Little Women:

The next round of these classes is scheduled to start on Thursday, October 22nd from 9:00am-noon or on Saturday, October 24th from 1:00-4:00pm.  You can contact us in the shop or check out our site for more information here.  Aside from creating a beautiful 1800's reproduction quilt for your home, you'll also learn about the history of quilts and make new quilting friends!  The patterns used in Jo's Little Women Club are exclusive to party members, so don't miss your oppoirtunity to quilt something historic and special.

Customer Appreciation Auction 2009

Posted by sqadmin

Our Customer Appreciation Auction went really well this year!  We had an impressive turn-out and everyone had a fun time bidding on items they wanted.  The process was simple: starting August 1st, for every $10 a customer spent in the store, he or she received $100 in our Auction Bucks.  On September 19th everyone gathered together at Suzanne's Quilt Shop and used those Auction Bucks to bid on the items they just had to have!

There were plenty of quilts to bid on, from crib size quilt tops to queen size finished quilts and everything in between.  There were countless goody bags filled with threads, batting, books, patterns, notions, and even soothing hand lotions.  There was even a prize handmade doll, and everyone oooo'd and aaaaaah'd over her.  Just take a look at all of our excited patrons: "Hey, everybody!  Hold up your Auction Bucks for the camera!"  And look at all the goody bags in front of them, ready to go home and be made into something beautiful.

Our very own Shirley played Auctioneer for the event, and Suzanne was surprised and amused at Shirley's exhuberant dedication to the job.

By the end of the event, we made sure to get a photo of the happy auction winners with their fresh goodies.
